PostSubject: So here's some interactive stories I've got planned   Mon Feb 04, 2013 10:15 pm

These interactive stories are different (more or less) to the usual "choose this option and this happens, rinse, lather, repeat" which I've done a couple of times. Instead, you'll have the area which your character is in described to you, along with what is going on (if anything) and, as hints, what you need to do. (Although these hints only come once). So for example...

Instead of:

"There was a control panel in the middle of the room ahead of you, amongst an entire cluster of wires and rods connected to it. There appear to be three buttons on the right hand side - A red one, a blue one, and a green one.

> Red button
> Blue button
> Green button
> Leave the room

It'll just be:

"There was a control panel in the middle of the room ahead of you, amongst an entire cluster of wires and rods connected to it. There appear to be three buttons on the right hand side - A red one, a blue one, and a green one."

... And then you have the option of doing whatever you like, considering the condition your character is in, what items you have, etc. It'll allow far more freedom in what you want to do in the interactive story other than picking from three options when there's possibly more you would want to do.

So here's a list of interactive stories I've thought up:

This is already up. Without spoiling TOO much, it is a horror story based in a very early 19th century world, although there is actually a small mix of extra-terrestrial devices and beings in it (without turning it into an old-era sci-fi film/horror). The story and plot is constantly evolving throughout, although I did end up having to do the old "Discover more as you go along" kind of thing. Still, there's an interesting backstory which overshadows the entire story, but it's up to you (if you want to) to discover what happened. Once your character is killed, that's it. No continues.

Another horror, although instead of it being an actual lengthy story, it just involves you escaping from Laboratory NRF-3. Sounds simple, right? Nope. I don't want to spoil anything, but you'll constantly have to be on your toes and careful of your surroundings in this one. It is a very unforgiving story... oh, not to mention that you also come across one of my most (if not, my most) hated characters at one point. Once you die, it's game over.

Cold trail

YET another horror. Your character wakes up to find that they're in a giant opened metal box, right in the middle of a forest in the dead of night. All you have to guide you is one single note that you find on the floor outside: "RUN". The things chasing you remain completely unknown until you start encountering other people. And then you realise, after a while, what the full picture is. The sport of a sadist. This one also has no continues, so once you're dead, you're dead.

I put this one up on another site. Again, a horror story, but not in the way you'd think it would be. It's inspired by the film "Cube". You start off in the middle of presumably nowhere, completely disorientated so all you can do is feel around at the beginning (although this becomes fixed almost right away). You've been conveniently placed outside an old abandoned house nearby, and your only real option is to go inside. But what's in there? ... I can give you a hint - it isn't your typical house of horrors story. Despite this one being very challenging, there are checkpoints in this one.

And that's all I have because I can't work outside of horror very well.
